It’s official: Doctolib is now a b-corp certified company. What does this label – and commitment – entail? What specific attributes allowed us to gain that certification? To deep dive into this topic, we’ve asked the Social Impact team, Bettina Reveyron and Natasha Ramgulam.

What is b-corp (and why it’s not just a good grade on a test)

Being B Corp certified means being part of a group of companies (9000 so far) that believe you can do business, and be responsible and ethical at the same time.

Getting the b-corp certification is a rigorous process, renewable every 3 years. It can take a bit of time to obtain. The certification measures a company’s entire social and environmental impact and requires a thorough audit of practices, done by an independent team. This audit involves verifying the business model, the operations, structure, and work processes of the company.

After obtaining the b-corp certifications, companies take the commitment to hang their corporate governance structure to be accountable to all stakeholders, and be transparent about their performance.

What sets us apart from a non b-corp company?

What sets us apart is our impact-driven mission. We have been driven by a single purpose, since our first day: building the healthcare system we all dream of, alongside healthcare professionals and patients. We also empower millions of people across Europe with secure, confidential, and streamlined access to healthcare to be healthier.

And we’ve got the numbers to showcase this impact: on average, general practitioners and pediatricians save 4.5 hours of medical time per week thanks to our solutions. Furthermore, half of all consultations booked with a GP or pediatrician are less than 48 hours in advance with a huge impact on handling urgent requests.

Yet, our mission is just one of the factors that made us get the certification. The transparency in our governance, which contains an independent mission committee with doctors, is also one of the key pillars behind getting the certification. Finally, our strong employee engagement (which is also measured in the audit process) was a key part in getting labelled b-corp.

As a healthcare technology provider, we are constantly striving to innovate and make a meaningful difference in the lives of both patients and healthcare professionals.

For us, being a B Corp is more than just having a label. It’s a written commitment that shows we are actively caring about our social and environmental impact, and it also boosts the trust others have in us as a brand. But more than that, it’s a lever that helps us push our impact even further.

We’re also planning for the future, figuring out how to go the extra mile on our social and environmental agendas to align with evolving regulations.
